About Us:
We are a unique mobile food pantry providing food security to students and families in our community. Our mission is to ensure no child in Jefferson County's Title One and GAP schools goes hungry over the weekends. Through our various programs, we distribute a variety of food items, including our 'Totes for Hope', fresh produce, snack items, and summer weekend food, across Lakewood, Edgewater, Wheat Ridge, and Arvada, Colorado.
Position Overview:
As a Core Volunteer, you will be an essential part of our team, helping to facilitate our programs and ensure their smooth operation. This will involve packing 'Totes for Hope', organizing pantry items and boxes, running food drives, delivering bags, and maintaining a clean and efficient pantry environment. This role provides a hands-on opportunity to make a tangible difference in the fight against food insecurity in our community.
Key Responsibilities:
Totes for Hope Packing: Assist in the assembly and packing of our 'Totes for Hope', ensuring each tote is adequately filled with the necessary items.
Pantry Organization: Support in maintaining a well-organized pantry by sorting and storing incoming food items and preparing outgoing boxes for distribution.
Food Drive Assistance: Play an active role in running food drives, from planning stages to execution, including liaising with community partners, setting up event spaces, and promoting the drives.
Delivery of Food Bags: Assist in the delivery of food bags to schools and families in our coverage area.
Maintaining a Clean Pantry: Regularly clean and sanitize the pantry area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Qualifications:
Enthusiasm for community service and dedication to the cause of food security.
Ability to work well in a team environment and perform tasks independently.
Good physical health and ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Dependable with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
