About the Event

GoFarm’s Local Food Share (LFS) program connects community members to local agriculture by providing shareholders (LFS members) with fresh, local, sustainably grown food throughout the growing season. Shareholders sign up for a weekly or biweekly share of food from June to October, then each week, pick up their food from one of our four distribution sites located in Golden, Arvada, and Evergreen.

You will assist GoFarm staff and interns at Local Food Share distribution sites and help connect over 800 families to local agriculture! Volunteering at Local Food Share distribution is fun, easy, and social. You will get to know people in the community, talk about local food, hear about new recipe ideas, and learn about the inner workings of GoFarm!

Volunteer Tasks:

  • Help welcome and check in shareholders
  • Assist shareholders as they pick up their food shares
  • Help stock produce bins and food displays
  • Use produce scale to weigh out portions of veggies
  • Help set up tents, tables, produce bins, food displays, food labels, etc.
  • Help clean and wash produce bins and food displays
  • Adhere to GoFarm’s Food Safety Plan & trainings

Working Conditions:

  • May be asked to lift crates up to 50 lbs
  • May need to stand for up to 3.5 hours at a time
  • Be prepared to work in ever-changing Colorado weather conditions: heat, sunshine, snow, wind, rain, etc.
  • Please bring a positive attitude and engage with staff, interns, and shareholders. We like to have fun!

Schedule and Time Commitment:

  • We’re looking for volunteers for the entire Summer Local Food Share season, from June 22nd to October 21st. You can sign up for weekly or biweekly (every other week) volunteer shifts. This will be either 18 or 9 shifts total.
  • We’ll ask you to pick 1 location and time slot to volunteer at over the course of the season (location and shift information below). This way, you’ll get to know the shareholders, interns, and staff at that location, and become part of the local food community!
  • We know that emergencies happen, so if you need to cancel or switch your volunteer shift, please let us know as soon as possible before each shift.
