About Uncompahgre Volunteer Legal Aid (UVLA)
In 1987, Uncompahgre Volunteer Legal Aid was established with a pad of paper, a phone, and a phonebook, enlisting the help of local attorneys to uphold the legal rights of indigent individuals in the 7th Judicial District and ensure that their basic needs are protected. UVLA continues to engage pro bono attorney partners to increase the quality and availability of legal services through (1) a comprehensive program of educational outreach that includes community seminars and self-help clinics, and (2) individual legal assistance, which consists of one-on-one support from an attorney. In response to recent events, we have updated our technological capacity and offer our services virtually and in person.
