09:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Arrival and Duration:
Prompt arrival at your scheduled shifts is crucial to the smooth running of our food drives. Please note that each shift will last between 1-3 hours. We've structured shifts to maintain a steady volunteer presence throughout the event, ensuring the best support for our cause without overburdening individual volunteers.
Dress Code:
Comfort is key! Dress in clothes and shoes suitable for standing or moving around for extended periods. Additionally, remember to wear your volunteer name tags.
Food Collection:
Our focus is on collecting non-perishable food items. These include: Canned goods (fruits, vegetables, soups, etc.) Dry goods (rice, pasta, beans, oats, etc.) Shelf-stable milk and juice Peanut butter Non-perishable protein sources (tuna, canned chicken, etc.) Kindly ensure that these items are within their expiration date Sorting and Packaging: As you receive donations, sort them by type into the provided collection bins. Handle all donated items gently to avoid damage. Please collect any money donations into the buckets provided.
Transportation:
After each food drive, volunteers will assist in loading the sorted and packed boxes into the designated vehicle. For each shift we need 2 volunteers with SUVs or covered bed pick-ups to drive the food to LUMC and unload the food with the help of one of Core Volunteers.
Volunteer Conduct:
Our volunteers are the face of our organization. We rely on you to foster a welcoming and friendly environment. Extend respect and assistance to all donors, volunteers, and staff. Remember, the success of a food drive isn't solely determined by the quantity of food collected, but also the community awareness and unity it inspires. Your dedication and efforts are instrumental in driving this cause forward.
Thank you for being part of our mission to fight food insecurity in Jefferson County!
