GoFarm’s Local Food Share (LFS) program connects community members to local agriculture by providing shareholders (LFS members) with fresh, local, sustainably grown food throughout the growing season. Shareholders sign up for a weekly or biweekly share of food from June to October, then each week, pick up their food from one of our four distribution sites located in Golden, Arvada, and Evergreen. ​​ You will work with GoFarm Staff and Interns to receive weekly deliveries from local farmers and producers, and help connect over 800 families to local agriculture! You will get to experience a unique part of the local food system by interacting with local producers and working up close with local food while having fun with GoFarm Staff and Interns! Volunteer Tasks: Adhere to GoFarm’s Food Safety Plan & training Receive food from local farmers and producers, including: Move crates of produce and other food products Count and sort food to be distributed amongst GoFarm distribution locations Working Conditions: May be asked to lift crates up to 50 lbs Be prepared to work in ever-changing Colorado weather conditions: heat, sunshine, snow, wind, rain Please bring a positive attitude and engage with staff, interns, and producers. We like to have fun! Schedule and Time Commitment: We’re looking for volunteers for the entire Summer Local Food Share season, from June 22nd to October 21st. The weekly commitment will be 18 shifts total. We’ll ask you to pick 1 location and time slot to volunteer at over the course of the season (location and shift information below). This way, you’ll get to know the interns and staff at that location, and become part of the local food community! We know that emergencies happen, so if you need to cancel or switch your volunteer shift, please let us know as soon as possible before each shift! Locations and Shift Times: Downtown Golden 614 10th St. Golden, CO 80401 Wednesdays 10 am to 1 pm Orientation and Training: Please attend 1 volunteer orientation session on either Thursday, May 26th from 6:00 - 7:30pm, OR Tuesday, May 31st from 9:30-11:00am. During the orientation session, we will review everything you need to know about GoFarm, food safety, and working with us! Location-specific training will also be provided by staff during your first volunteer shift. In exchange for your time and hard work, we will provide you with: Depending on what is available - we’ll send you home with at least a couple of food items each week!
